It is easy for healthcare practitioners to fall into the routine of using a single supplement to address just one condition, relying on its mode of action in a specific area, without realizing it can also impact other facets of the case. Many commonly used ingredients have lesser-known yet equally powerful effects that make them invaluable to clinicians when treating patients with multiple interrelated issues.
Understanding which ingredients, like melatonin—known for supporting both sleep and immune function1—can exert effects on multiple systems allows clinicians to expand their clinical ‘toolbox’ with key ingredients that have various mechanisms of action. This approach facilitates the targeting of various pathways and helps address the common issue of ‘Pill Fatigue’ that many patients experience. In this lecture, Dr. Penny Kendall-Reed, ND, will share the top ingredients used in her practice and explain her clinical approach and rationale for their use in patient care.
